@ To

use this one as reference which works
This configuration Posted by Dexter

1) Distribution Switch (SwitchB)
1) Do not change VTP and STP settings
2) Switch needs to be spanning-tree root for VLAN 11-13,21-23. Other VLAN’s can have default STP priority
3) VLAN’s allowed on the trunk are 1,21-23
Access Switch (SwitchA)
1) STP and VTP settings should be identical to SwitchB
2) Configure VLAN’s as per diagram
3) VLAN 1,21-23 needs to be tagged when traversing the link
4) No routing needed on SwitchA
5) VLAN 1 needs to be configured with IP – 192.168.1.11/24
My approach was configuring SwitchB (Distribution Switch) first and then moving on to SwitchA. Following is my config as i remember it
SwitchB#show cdp neighbors detail —> Get the IP address of the Router (needed to ping at the end-192.168.1.1)
SwitchB#show vtp status —>Write down the VTP mode (was set to Transparent)
SwitchB#show spanning-tree —>Write down the STP mode (was set to RSTP)
SwitchB#show vlan —> Check if any VLAN is assigned to FastEthernet 0/3 and 0/4 (VLAN 98 was assigned)
SwitchB#show vlan —>Check whats the native VLAN (can be identified by the name “TrunkNative”, VLAN 99)
SwitchB(config)#vlan 21
SwitchB(config-vlan)#name Marketing
SwitchB(config)#vlan 22
SwitchB(config-vlan)#name Sales
SwitchB(config)#vlan 23
SwitchB(config-vlan)#name Engineering
SwitchB(config)#spanning-tree vlan 11-13,21-23 root primary
***This completes VLAN configuration***
SwitchB(config)#int range fa0/3 – 4 –> Make sure you put a space between “3 – 4″ for it to accept the command

SwitchB(config-int-range)#no shutdown
SwitchB(config-int-range)#no switchport access vlan 98 —> remove VLAN 98
SwitchB(config-int-range)#switchport mode trunk
SwitchB(config-int-range)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q —> System might not accept this command, but type it anyway
SwitchB(config-int-range)#switchport trunk native vlan 99

SwitchB(config-int-range)#switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,21-23
SwitchB(config-int-range)#channel-protocol lacp

SwitchB(config-int-range)#channel-group 1 mode active –> Distribution switch needs to be ACTIVE

SwitchB(config-int-range)#exit

SwitchB(config-if)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
SwitchB(config-if)#switchport trunk native vlan 99
SwitchB(config-if)#switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,21-23
***This complete’s Etherchannel configuration***

Move on to SwitchA (Access Switch)
SwitchA#show vlan —> check if any of the required VLAN’s are pre-configured (Need to configure 21-23,99)
SwitchA#show vtp status —> Check VTP mode of switch (Switch is in Server mode, need to change to Transparent)
SwitchA#show spanning-tree —> Check STP mode (Change to RSTP)

there is a bug on the lacp sim.. i got stp as pvrst+.. but i was rcving stp error messages with inconsistent port types. i configured the same way as it is supposed to be

and again could not confirm any parameters the port channel could just add native vlan and allowed vlan..

not sure if lab was correct..

i was not able to ping the router ip.

Thanks for the info. I know from previous experience that not all questions are marked from cisco exams. It could be that the lab you skipped was marked zero. I don't think running some show commands would lower your score on the lab, as long as you don't modify your config.

Goodluck on the 2nd attempt.

I don’t think running some show commands would lower your score on the lab, as long as you don’t modify your config.

Goodluck on the 2nd attempt.

Hi all i crashed and burned on the exam, all sims were there and i thought i passed because the only one that i was stuck on was AAAdot1x. Is it possible that this lab is weighed heavier than the rest, beacues i skipped it thinking my score was high enough. Anyway i have to wait 5 days and i will hit AAAdot1x hard. BTW my score was 781. Also on the MLS sim i was able to ping from the MLS and one of the pc to the server but not the other pc. I did a couple of sh runs and sh ip route commands to see but i did not do a sh ip eigrp neighbor command. Nevertheless it seems that with me digging in the config i inadvertently dropped my score trying to troubleshoot. Can anyone confirm this? Please priovide any suggestions my 5 days slowly ticking away. Thank you all

1 wireless and 2 voice question
3 drag and drop
3 labs mls with Eigrp, LACP with STP and AAA Dot1x
HSRP hot spot only

BTW my LACP etherchannel would not come up until i did a shut no shut on the interface ranges twice on each side. There were some new questions but very similar to nonentity so no issues but i guess in my case i need to revisit.

Just passed this one (934/1000), was my first question.

As above is almost correct.

One thing I forgot, Trunks are NOT allowed to negotiate.. I forgot the
"swtichport trunk nonegotiate" command and lost a few points there

Dont set the native vlan to 1 either, the requirement states that vlan 1 needs to be tagged (not encapsulated) so use 802.1q and change the native vlan to 99 (there is a vlan on Switch A for this)
As VTP is transparent the vlans are not re-created on the other switch.
For it to become a root for those vlans as well add each vlan to Switch A as well as swtich B

There should be no need to remove the vlan 98 (this is for unused ports)

It is C and E
The native vlan will not be tagged in this case it is Vlan 1 and because Gi0/1 is a trunk it will not appear in the show vlan command.

Cheers

@ To check the config and question posted by spy under lacp with STP LAB Sim it is very much similar

SwitchB(config)#int range fa0/3 – 4

SwitchB(config-int-range)#no shutdown

SwitchB(config-int-range)#switchport mode trunk
SwitchB(config-int-range)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
SwitchB(config-int-range)#switchport trunk native vlan 99

SwitchB(config-int-range)#switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,21-23
SwitchB(config-int-range)#channel-protocol lacp

SwitchB(config-int-range)#channel-group 1 mode passive –> Access switch needs to be PASSIVE

SwitchB(config-int-range)#exit
SwitchB(config-if)#int port-channel 1
SwitchB(config-if)#switchport mode trunk —> System might not accept this command, but type it anyway
SwitchB(config-if)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
SwitchB(config-if)#switchport trunk native vlan 99
SwitchB(config-if)#switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,21-23

just be wary to check the switch vtp mode by running sh vtp status command

Thanks,

On the real exam, the set-up of the switch was interchanged.

SwB SwA Router

I have answered this one, although some points were deducted. :(
*Note: Do not change VTP and STP on Switch A.

So, you should change the priority on SwB and put on the highest possible value which is 61440.
This is to make the SwA the root bridge what ever value it has.

By the way, the question requires that SwA should be the root brdige for vlan 11,12,13,21,22 and 23. Other VLAN should be default.

Other requirements not mentioned in this Sim.

*Swich B STP mode should be the same with Switch A.

SwA is on "rapid pvst" while SwB is only on pvst.

*Switch B VTP set-up should be the same with SwS.

SwA is set to VTP transparent while SwB is set as Server.
Just change SwB VTP mode to Transparent.

Also, another advice. remove "switchport access vlan 98" on SwA fa0/3 - 4 to avoid VLANs mismatch.
you may add "switchport trunk native vlan 1" to avoid native vlan mismatch. (SwB's native vlan is on default which is vlan 1)

spanning-tree allowed vlans will not work.

Use "switchport trunk allowed vlan 11-13,21-23 (on the question, even 11-13 is also need to be allowed, when you do the manual pruning).

Hope this helps.

Got a score of 967/1000. Yay! :)
Goodluck guys.
