Hey mak, .pkt is the file which you to open through cisco packet tracer software… this is simulatin pratise topology. if you hav real switches you can practise on that. ;)

Thanks Jojo for these! However when I run this config, after a minute or so the portchannel connection drops on SwitchB with no error – it just goes down. Not sure why. It happens whether I enter the config myself or just load Jojo’s finished solution. Any comments appreciated.

for some reason i am nable to open these PacketTracer files.

So I can not open these in Packet Tracer 5.0 either.
Everytime I try it crashes Packet Tracer.

Did a little digging, these do not work with PacketTracer 5.0 but they do work with PacketTracer 5.3

P4S 497 is 100% valid they have additional DND’s that are not on this site
Labs were spread out quite a bit one of them was q48 but I finished with just under an hour left on the clock so as long as you study and feel comfortable with the labs and the DND’s you will be fine
I had the following labs
AAA-Dot1X – ended with a zero because I mixed up the config and put the acls on ASW1 and the radius server on DSW1…
LACP w/STP
MLS w/EIGRP
I had the HSRP Hotspot
I also had about 6-8 DND’s (all of them were on the P4S) a lot of VLAN implementation, design, trouble shooting questions had the HA network DND, Local vs Dist vlan, DTP mode.

There were no wireless questions, 2-3 voice/aux vlan questions

This test is very passable if you do the studying and have an understanding of the technology.

Now onto Route, good luck all and thanks for everyone’s help and comments you really learn a lot through these forums!!!

Make sure you get the testKing 2011-06-11 427 question. And practice the dump.

funny enough I did not do the AAA dot1x because of exam fever, the first question was the AAA dot1x sim so I was really in a hurry to start that after seeing the topology, I could not see the to click the console that is by my left. I though it was just a picture. So I click next hoping to see the consoles and start my sim but that took me to the next question.

And for LACP with STP, i used DEXTOR commands…they are still VALID !!

Couple of lab questions from reviewing VAIOs solutions:

On LACP lab:
Should you allow the vlans and set the trunk/encapsulation on the Fa0/3 – 4 interface range, or on the port-channel 1 interface? I’ve seen it suggested both ways.

Ex.

switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,21-23,99

channel-group 1 mode active

OR

fa0/3 – 4
switchport mode trunk

follow up questions from solution: Why are we tagging native vlan 99, but not allowing it on the trunk? Why are we building vlans 11-13 on the ASW if we’re not allowing them on the trunk? I know the labsims are flaky, so if the solution works as-is, good enough.

This site is great. Test to recert in 2 days. Seems harder than it was 3yrs ago. Will follow up 8/17 with my experience.

Labbed this up today int PT. For PT to work correctly, need to apply allowed vlans to interface range and port-channel. Will lab it up with real gear after this test.

Passed with a 945. I’ll cross post to Share you Switch Experience, along with some other observations.

Some differences in the LACP lab from VAIOs:

Switch B is the agg switch, Switch A is the dist switch. Did NOT build vlans on 11-13, on switch B. The scenario specifically said to build only the required vlans on Switch B and to manually prune the trunk to the necessary vlans. Switch B interface range fa0/3 – 4 requires switchport trunk encapsulation dot1Q to enable trunking. Switch A doesn’t. (opposite of VAIO’s experience.)

All trunking was done on the interfacer range fa0/3 – 4 on both switches. I only did a no shut on the port-channel 1 interfaces.

dot1x / eigrp labs are spot-on with VAIOs solution.

Passed switch about 2 hours ago with a score of 912. studied nonentity 6.8 459q and 7.6 455 q along with cbt nuggets and official Certification guide. all questions were from nonentity.

labs i got were
AAA
MLS EIGRP
LACP – stp

I messed up the lacp stp lab. had the same problem as lemaxo above.

port wont be hard coded as trunk as required in the lacp lab requirements it gives error command rejected.
before you put in the command “switchport mode trunk” always type encapsulation first or it will give permanent error .
it should be like this

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk.

i got the error
Command rejected: An interface whose trunk encapsulation is “Auto” can not be configured to “trunk” mode.
and it wont go away even after removing the trunk command.
In the same lab the requirement was as follows:
the middle switch was in transparent mode and configured for rstp (changing these modes was forbidden)
and they wanted you to configure the same on the new switch. after the error i just finished the lab as best as i could. but this was the only question that got wrong.

Ok, what is with these sites that still have the *old* “retired” exam material around for CCNP and still advertise it for the latest exam versions. What I’m talking about is anything with the acronyms “BSCI”, “BCMSN”, “COMP”, “ICSW”, and “ONT”. They’ve been retired since Aug 2010, over a year ago ! I have just downloaded from the certpractice link above the packet tracer .pkt files, only to find out they are for BCMSN exam that was retired. Also, and possibly could tweak the current EIGRP one there, but I have just taken the 642-813 and failed, and recall the server IP in that lab was on a totally different network/subnet than either the router/switch or PC VLANs that were in the example. Probably the reason why they changed that on the new switch exam this time around!

Asking if anyone else has used these (or updated ones!) that helped them pass the exam ?
Since I’m not in a position to have a stack of hardware to practice on, I’m left to going to this route to prep for the exam again. I’ve been through P4S and know that well, just want to be ready for the labs as well.
