Exam price will increase from $150.00 to $200.00 per exam

I took the exam on Monday and had this question from TI5.74. I answered it differently than what TI has. Can you please tell me which one is correct?

B is never a right bcoz when you say Access it cant be trunk I got the same question and I put D.

few questions from Actual test / testking.

few new question which i dont recollect exactly but not that difficult.

I also passed the exam today. Got the same things Rajesh Jaishwal got.
Most of the Qs were from TI5.74.

One observation in the lab that threw me in a loop that I could not get out of. Had to move on to the next Qs, to survive the test.
In the Lacp and STP lab, it used this specific verbage: vlan1 and all other allowed vlans should be tagged. Well, in dot1q, native vlan1 is not tagged. But I could not remember how to force tagging on the native vlan. I remember that there is such command in the book somewhere that shows how to do this. I think it is in the VLAN hopping section.

Two D&D:
1) trunk negotiation:
trunk, access, desirable auto, desirable dynamic and nonegotate.
2) VLAN Implementation on two switches connected together….with confusing choices. select 4 out of 6
the choices were something like:
i) configure SVI on both switches
ii)ensure that working trunk links are established on both ends of the switches.
iii) trunk links are established on both ends of the switches. (ya, I know. how is this different than ii?)
iv) something to do with STP (which I did not pick)
v) ?
vi) ?

On the HSRP hotspot, the Q was about VLAN 103 ( I think). Out of the four choices, I am listing the two possible ones (The other two choices were completely wrong):

i) Change the priority of DSW1 to 150 so that it is greater than 150 but less than 190.

ii) i) Change the priority of DSW2 so that it is greater than 241 but less than 250.

To me both choices would fix the issue, but there is only one correct answer. So do your research and come to a conclusion.

So, if you have studied all the theory, hit TI5.74 hard and of course this web site; and go for the 642-813 test. You will pass, trust me .

Ive just sat my CCNP Switch exam 642-813 amd im glad to say I passed thanks to this website and TI 5.74.

60% of the questions were from T15.74

Sims included:

aaa dot1x
MLS and EIGRP -
LACP with vlan

OSPF hotspot – same as on this website.

Not many questions on WLAN, mostly for me they were about implementing vlans / including 2 or 3 Vlan implementation Drag and drops.

If I was to study for this exam again I would recommend reviewing vlan implementation process/procedures and also make sure you know are confident on the use of BPDU.

The vlans drag and drop, included one where you have to place the correct description i.e. local / end to end. There was only 4 options 2x for each. This was a little bit different than what CK wrote.

To be honest I cant remember much but it was straight forward.

Also another one of the D&Ds was what’s important when implementating vlans?

It gave you 7 options for which you only had 5 to select. It had options like vtp information, physical locations, documentation, rollback and user specifications. etc

Hopefully someone who has just passed can explain further.

For the vlan design D&D i think the good sequence is:
ip subnet
location
vlan assignment
trunk
vtp

I went thought the contents of the Switch, there is no difference. If you have prepared for BCMSN, then you do not need any further preps for Switch. With Route, there are differences which you have to cover. TShoot is the cream of both Switch and Route. You have to have a good understanding of those two in order to take TShoot, although there is no restriction on the order of taking these papers.

Studied the all labs in the BCMSN, for the new questions, make sure u know the VLAN verification and implementation plan, i can’t remember the sequence they were new D&D questions.

Note for the Laps the copy run start does not work, but try it, the hotspot question was HSRP on this site

Why did you remove all the comments for exam 642-812? They were valuable! There are still academy students who can apply for this exam untill july 2011!

Is 642-812 exam valid still and is it expiring on july 2011? But i heard that it is expired and we are supposed to right 642-813 exam.

@man: if you are a networking academy student, you can apply for the 642-812 until july 2011! I’m in your very same situation I’ll be applying for BCMSN and BSCI in the next 4/5 weeks.

@chetan: you must be enrolled in an official cisco networking academy program and have applied for the lessons. Each of the four modules (i did the CCNP 5.0 version, not the new one) is about 50/60 hours long, with in-class lessons and so on.
After attending the lessons you obtain the “cisco certificate of course completion” (they are given to you whenever you complete your lessons).

@man: this is what has been told me by the academy. The CCNP 5.0 exams are still available and are valid as a renewal for already obtained CCNP and CCNA certifications, until july 2011.

-lacp & vlan; but requirement was only to configure vlans on SwitchB

i have failed today because of i have mostly emphasis my final exam preparation based on passguide and this site only.

As this is a new exam, i think we all need to study the official guide of 813 very carefully, beside passguide, ti and this site.

next time guys use ti v5 74 by Jaykay 227q.vce and stop using other dumps you will be like corrupted just watch cbt bcmsn put notes use ti and the labs are here stoppppppppp using other dumps when someone is saying woww a new dumppp there is nothing beter then test inside dumps. good luck every body !

@msxy: the thing is simple: probably all the dumps cover 642-812 and NOT 642-813. That’s why i’m asking certprepare to put back the old page regarding BCMSN, since there’s a lot of information highly valuable for the one like me who are going to attend 812 exam and not 813.

I believe in short, do not rely on hard memory of answers to questions. Passguide is something like a 10 year series, give you the idea of what questions could possibly be asked. If you are lucky you can get the exact questions….but I believe understanding how to derive the answers is key to passing the exam if there are modifications to the questions. The topics should be similar….

What’s more, by understanding the concepts and how to derive the answers instead of hard memorising will make you a much more credible dumper if you passed the exam. Companies expect a lot from CCNPs and it will be embarassing if a CCNP seem to know nth compared to someone who havn even attained CCNA…..

I know some ccnp obtained only with dump and on work it’s embarassing, but i have alredy done the 642-812, but some question and lab are out of explanation on the book and i have lost more more time, and i have done the last 28 question in 10 minutes without have the time to read and 3 D&D, so i have failed for few point. In my opinion a good understanding is necessary for work, but not more for the exam.

Sims from this site were helpful. The HSRP simlet was the same as on the site.

There were at least 2 DnD on Vlan planning. I expected more tech questions but it seems as if the exam is headed towards planning.

Yes, it is great if someone could “assure” that the dump from TI stills the same!

I used the Cisco Press book. It was good reading. I built a lab at work to practice the sims.

I used TI for practice questions and I would say many were similar to what I saw on the exam. Be careful though, some questions were not in TI, including the DnDs.

Main source is always CiscoPress, and there is no point taking a Cisco Certification without lab practice most of the knowledge..

Looks like the 642-813 exam is heavily focused on planning and the questions asked were not covered in the cert books or pass4sure.

TI 5.74 is stil valid.

If i had to do it again be sure you know about the design implematations.
it had me twisting my mind some times. and a big worry.
After rhe fisrt 10 questions i alredy had a lab and 2 d&d so i got worried.

But relax don’t let the clock get to you.

a tip in the lacp sim, after the config i had to shut en no shut the ports to get the port-channel up.
That took me some time to figure out. (stress)

certprepare and all of it’s friends thank for your support.

i will keep watching this website.

Yes it’s not important if ip change i work everyday in a switch environment, but the exam is another things.
