This configuration Posted by Dexter

1) Distribution Switch (SwitchB)
1) Do not change VTP and STP settings
2) Switch needs to be spanning-tree root for VLAN 11-13,21-23. Other VLAN’s can have default STP priority
3) VLAN’s allowed on the trunk are 1,21-23
Access Switch (SwitchA)
1) STP and VTP settings should be identical to SwitchB
2) Configure VLAN’s as per diagram
3) VLAN 1,21-23 needs to be tagged when traversing the link
4) No routing needed on SwitchA
5) VLAN 1 needs to be configured with IP – 192.168.1.11/24
My approach was configuring SwitchB (Distribution Switch) first and then moving on to SwitchA. Following is my config as i remember it
SwitchB#show cdp neighbors detail —> Get the IP address of the Router (needed to ping at the end-192.168.1.1)
SwitchB#show vtp status —>Write down the VTP mode (was set to Transparent)
SwitchB#show spanning-tree —>Write down the STP mode (was set to RSTP)
SwitchB#show vlan —> Check if any VLAN is assigned to FastEthernet 0/3 and 0/4 (VLAN 98 was assigned)
SwitchB#show vlan —>Check whats the native VLAN (can be identified by the name “TrunkNative”, VLAN 99)
SwitchB(config)#vlan 21
SwitchB(config-vlan)#name Marketing
SwitchB(config)#vlan 22
SwitchB(config-vlan)#name Sales
SwitchB(config)#vlan 23
SwitchB(config-vlan)#name Engineering
SwitchB(config)#spanning-tree vlan 11-13,21-23 root primary

SwitchB(config)#int range fa0/3 – 4 –> Make sure you put a space between “3 – 4″ for it to accept the command  
SwitchB(config-int-range)#no shutdown

Move on to SwitchA (Access Switch)
SwitchA#show vlan —> check if any of the required VLAN’s are pre-configured (Need to configure 21-23,99)
SwitchA#show vtp status —> Check VTP mode of switch (Switch is in Server mode, need to change to Transparent)
SwitchA#show spanning-tree —> Check STP mode (Change to RSTP)
SwitchA(config)#vtp mode transparent
SwitchA(config)#spanning-tree mode rstp

SwitchA(config)#vlan 21
SwitchA(config-vlan)#name Marketing (This are the actual Vlan names I got on my test)

Thanks for the info. I know from previous experience that not all questions are marked from cisco exams. It could be that the lab you skipped was marked zero. I don’t think running some show commands would lower your score on the lab, as long as you don’t modify your config.

Hi all i crashed and burned on the exam, all sims were there and i thought i passed because the only one that i was stuck on was AAAdot1x. Is it possible that this lab is weighed heavier than the rest, beacues i skipped it thinking my score was high enough. Anyway i have to wait 5 days and i will hit AAAdot1x hard. BTW my score was 781. Also on the MLS sim i was able to ping from the MLS and one of the pc to the server but not the other pc. I did a couple of sh runs and sh ip route commands to see but i did not do a sh ip eigrp neighbor command. Nevertheless it seems that with me digging in the config i inadvertently dropped my score trying to troubleshoot. Can anyone confirm this? Please priovide any suggestions my 5 days slowly ticking away. Thank you all

BTW my LACP etherchannel would not come up until i did a shut no shut on the interface ranges twice on each side. There were some new questions but very similar to nonentity so no issues but i guess in my case i need to revisit.

It is C and E
The native vlan will not be tagged in this case it is Vlan 1 and because Gi0/1 is a trunk it will not appear in the show vlan command.

@Nice-one,,there is time limit for each of the labs in the exams, it all depend on your knowledge and understanding of the whole thing, it take me between 5 to 12 mins on each lab, it took me the total of 52 mins to finish my exams with the score of 976..if you know what you’re doing the better for you and for negative markings for Lab I don’t understand that Q……. best of lock..

Finally i have cleared my CCNP Switch exam.. ALHAMDULLILAH.

all qs from nonenity v 4 are valid 100%
no STP sim
3 dnd in which one is SNMP second one Local VLAN,Remote VLANS and i forgot the third one.

no changes in labs, aaa, lacp with stp and mls lab are part of paper.

do not get panic while doing lab. you have enough time to get it done.

i meant that cisco do not implement any timer in labs. there is only one timer will run when you will give your paper and you need to complete your paper in it so either you spent 1 min or 1 hr in lab cisco have no issues.

on STP do we get the same topology like the one in this site and we have control to switchC only or what ?
