Answer: A

Question 8:

You are a network technician, study the exhibit carefully. What should be taken into consideration when using the Cisco Aironet Desktop Utility (ADU) to configure the static WEP keys on the wireless client adapter?

WEP.jpg

A – Before the client adapter WEP key is generated, all wireless infrastructure devices (such as access points, servers, etc.) must be properly configured for LEAP authentication.
B – The client adapter WEP key should be generated by the AP and forwarded to the client adapter before the client adapter can establish communication with the wireless network.
C – In infrastructure mode the client adapter WEP key must match the WEP key used by the access point. In ad hoc mode all client WEP keys within the wireless network must match each other.
D – The client adapter WEP key should be generated by the authentication server and forwarded to the client adapter before the client adapter can establish communication with the wireless network.

Answer: C

Question 9:

You work as a network technician ,please study the exhibit carefully. When it attempts to register to a wireless LAN controller (WLC), what type of message is transmitted by the lightweight access point (LAP)?

LAP_message.jpg

A – The LAP will send both Layer 2 and Layer 3 Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) mode discovery request messages at the same time.
B – The LAP will send Layer 2 Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) mode discovery request messages only.
C – The LAP will send Layer 3 Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) mode discovery request messages only.

    Hi,

I am preparing for the SWITCH exam (642-813) using the Cisco press book : CCNP Switch 642-813 Official Certification GUide by David Hucaby. There is no mention on the Cisco ADU and configurations of Windows XP clients. Are there anything that i have missed out?
    Appreciate any kind help.

    @gbulan, @omgman

    It should actually read…

“A wireless client operating at a lower data rate in a particular WLAN will delay all clients in that same WLAN.”

All clients operate at half-duplex and in general they all delay each other. Only one client can communicate through an AP at one time. If you spread that WLAN over several APs and clients are distributed across those APs, Then the clients affect each other less and less.

The more appropriate question is as I have stated above. If a client is operating at a lower data rate, and there is only one AP, then the other clients must wait on the transmission to finish(which takes longer b/c they are connected at a lower speed)….

    my 2 cents

    April 2nd, 2012

Q9 is really odd, because L2 LWAPP is not supported on new APs:
“Layer 2 LWAPP is not supported by lightweight Cisco Aironet 1200, 1252, 1130AG, or 1240AG access points, or the Cisco 2006, WiSM, or WLCM series WLCs”.

  24. Qrsa
    April 2nd, 2012

And (about Q9) there is a DHCP server (probably with 43 option), so LWAPP Discovery Message is unicasted.
So the answe should be “C”?!

IT can’t be true , all wireless clients are half duplex and u can’t change the Operation mode ,Because of the hardware Limits.

it can be one client that connected in lower speed to the segment will slow down all the ather clients ..

    9tut plz check the Answer..

it Seems to be that 9tut is not update’s any more , it very nice that a web site like this is Exists but this worng “to Update and Forget” , i comment all the time on errors in the questions and also alot of ather Visitors do it too .. maby if u will add an Option were we can comment on a specific question the web site will Maintain him self .. Thank you!

We can read and remember the books all we want, but Cisco writes the questions in such a difficult and convoluted way, that some questions are almost impossible to answer.

I can bet many experienced people currently working in the networking field wont be able to pass CCNA, let alone CCNP.

    Hello certprepare,

Thanks a million for this webpage.

For Question 5, choice A should be:

    A. A wireless client operating at a lower data rate in a particular wireless LAN will delay all clients in that same WLAN.

The reason is because it is using a slower speed/data rate, each packet sent and each acknowledgement received by such a client will take longer.

“For Question 5, choice A should be:

I’ve read the entire CCNP SWITCH Official Certification Guide, and it makes absolutekly NO mention of “Aironet”, whatever that is, yet 50% of these questions are about Aironet APs! What’s up with this???

The CCNP ROUTE Official Certification Guide was very good, but the SWITCH version seems to be completely useless to pass this exam. I feel I have wasted three weeks of my life.

(Electronics) very cool. the usb drive is EASY to map as a network drive with a letetr and it works fast enough. right now i’m backing up from the drive wirelessly to my computer and it is transferring data at a rate of 1GB in about 20 minutes. to some that will sound slow, but to me thats VERY fast. especially when you consider the price at which you’re getting this utility. you can turn a USB drive into a network drive. (mine is 250 GB external). i still have not read the instructions for the device yet. tomorrow i will look into customizing the security options. i am terribly excited about now having a network drive from which all 3 of my computers can access files. no more storing pictures or music or files on 1 of the 3, now everything is stored on the network drive and backed up to my main computer. my wife and i love it. just $85. also interesting is that the compression rate is currently about 20%, so i think that means by the time my current backup is complete, my 44GB network drive might be compressed to under 9GB. i’ll see, but it should give you some idea. as for the networking features, the signal is very strong and reaches in my basement, so my buddy down there is happy too. i find the description of the network controls you get to be really understated. you can block and allow websites and computers and you get a lot of other useful controls. its very user friendly and the only thing you’ll really need to refer to the manual for is to see how to access the usb drive from your computer its EASY. the tricky thing is restricting admin access to just yourself trying to figure that out. will do it tomorrow. i hope this review helps. i would recommend to anyone to get this router i’m not a techie, so my expectations are normal and this has exceeded my expectations by far. its very similar to using the network drive at my job. the best part of it all to me is that i now have all my files stored in one place and finally made good use of my external usb hard drive, which will now always be connected. can’t beat that. good luck and vote me up if this review was helpful.

Q1 – Something’s up with Question 1: I think (hope) the wording is different on the TEST.

Which two Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) statements are true? (Choose two)

    A. Layer 3 LWAPP is a UDP / IP frame that requires a Cisco Aironet AP to obtain an IP address using DHCP.

    ### the last three choices appear to worded wrong – or??/

    B. Data traffic is encapsulated in UDP packets with a source port of 1024 and a destination port of 12223.
    C. Data traffic is encapsulated in TCP packets with a source port of 1024 and destination port of 12223.
    D. Control traffic is encapsulated in UDP packets with a source port of 1024 and a destination port of 12223.

These all specify SOURCE ports of 1024; but this is not right; Check this link out:

    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_white_paper09186a0080901caa.shtml

“The AP uses ephemeral ports when it talks to the WLC. The port numbers used by the WLC, in return, are UDP port 12222 and UDP port 12223 for LWAPP Data and LWAPP Control traffic respectively. An LWAPP control frame is distinguished from an LWAPP data frame by the “C” bit in the header flag field of the LWAPP. If set to 1, it is a control frame.”

We can determine that LWAPP control and data both use UDP 12222 and 12223. We also know that Control traffic is encrypted.

We can determine that LWAPP uses UDP, so FOR SURE C is wrong.

    A. ; although poorly worded – makes sense as a right answer; as you do need an IP address for the AP (from a DHCP server) to connect with the controller to exchange LWAPP.

My problem is with B. and D. hope its different wording…. :)

    My 2 cents:
Question 5, option A is correct but is hard to interpret.
IEEE 802.11 WLANs are always half duplex because transmitting and receiving stations use the same frequency and only one station can transmit at any time.
In the IEEE 802.11 standards CSMA/Collision Avoidance works by requiring all stations to listen before they transmit a frame, if another device is already transmitting a frame the station wanting to send data must wait until the frame in progress has completed, then it must wait until the DIFS timer expires, and then wait the random backoff time.
    In this answer the phrase:
A WLAN client that is operating in half-duplex mode will delay all clients in that WLAN.

    Should be read as follows:
A WLAN client, that is operating in half-duplex mode as described in 802.11 IEEE standard, when transmitting a frame, will delay all clients in that WLAN because they must wait until the frame in progress has completed, then they must wait until the DIFS timer expires, and then wait the random backoff time.
